Board of Directors

Small Steps Early Learning Centre Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization. It's Board of Directors is made up of parents and community members who work together to manage the organization. Serving on the board provides an opportunity to participate in a democratic process while building, managing, and improving the early learning centre in many areas.
Board members are legally responsible for governing the corporation and are expected to:

Govern the corporation with leadership, strategic direction and planning;

Meet the financial and legal obligations of the corporation;

Act honestly and in the best interest of Small Steps Early Learning Centre Inc.;

State a conflict of interest if there is a difference between the interest of the corporation and personal interests;

Declare a conflict of interest if they stand to benefit financially, directly or indirectly, from the actions of the Board;

Know the Bylaws of the corporation;

Attend meetings regularly and be prepared to discuss all items on the agenda;

Review all reports and correspondence from licensing authorities;
-
Make financial decisions based on knowledge and professional counsel (if appropriate); and
-
Take a leadership role in the formation and implementation of policies for the facility.
The Board of Directors for Small Steps ELC normally meet at least once per month in the evenings. Additional meetings may be necessary for planning of specific events. Our Annual General Meetings is held in November, where new directors are elected as well as the executives for the board.
