In 2011, a group of enthusiastic parents recognized the need - which was already severe and growing - for reliable, quality childcare services in the Outlook area. After a couple of earnest conversations and a bit of preliminary brainstorming, they decided to formally establish a non-profit corporation which they named the Outlook Daycare Project. Their next big task was to secure Provincial government support and funding. First, they conducted a community needs survey and then communicated that information in a compelling proposal to the Ministry of Education which is the body responsible for licensing and funding childcare centres in Saskatchewan. In less than one year, they had secured the desired approvals, some start-up capital and the green light to move forward.
From there, the rest is history. After our lengthy journey that involved creative visioning, thoughtful negotiating, and endless planning, we now have a beautiful, five room child care facility that can accommodate up to 33 little people.
